We provide intensive care for 1 family, consisting of 25 children, 11 permanent caregivers, and 9 team members.
Besides personal attention, we offer children the community feeling of belonging and the stability of being able to attach to family members for a long time.
A child grows up best in a family, but it is not always possible to live with their own parents or close relatives. This applies to all our children. Children need a safe environment.
A family can provide this best and gives children the best foundation to grow up into emotionally stable and independent adults. The fact that a child grows up best in a family may sound obvious, but this principle is all too often ignored.
In family homes, permanent 'family parents' provide a home for a small group of children, with whom they live together as a family. In a foster family or family home, children experience a normal and natural family life. That's why The 4WatotoHouse is not an orphanage, but a family home, a home for 1 family.
We have given 25 children with difficult pasts a home in a family house with a close-knit family. Here, the children can be themselves and enjoy their youth. 4Watoto aims not just to provide shelter and food, but also a place where a child receives love, support, and personal attention. The 4WatotoHouse is a safe place for the children where they find peace, share emotions, and experience daily joy.
Moreover, the children are given the tools to develop themselves, create skills, and opportunities to convert these skills into value.
When young people reach their potential, they will serve as examples for their peers and positively influence their country. This impact will reach far beyond the 4Watoto foundation itself.
Helping 25 children will in turn aid 100 other children and people. One starts a business, another opens a new 4WatotoHouse. Another becomes a nurse and saves lives.
